Our doorstops are carefully crafted from 'green oak,' the same high-quality grade used in constructing timber-framed buildings. Unlike fully seasoned wood, green oak retains some of its natural moisture, leading to varying degrees of cracks in the blocks. These cracks are a unique characteristic of green oak and contribute to its distinctive charm and beauty.

Natural Ageing Process:
The ageing process of green oak is similar to that of oak beams used in historic buildings. Over time, as the wood reaches equilibrium with its environment, the cracks may change. Often, they close-up as the moisture content within the blocks stabilizes with the surrounding air. However, we cannot guarantee that all cracks will disappear completely.

Functional Integrity:
It is important to note that the presence of cracks does not affect the functionality of the doorstop. The structure remains robust, and the handle will stay securely attached. The natural ageing process and the formation of cracks are part of the wood's inherent beauty and uniqueness.
