Dive into the world of craftsmanship with our popular Workshop Experience Day.
This unique opportunity invites you to step into our world and learn the artistry behind creating one of our signature pieces - our doorstops or chopping board. Spend a relaxing time in a beautiful setting with likeminded people and learn new skills.
Join us for a 3-4 hour immersive experience, where you'll be guided through the intricate process of bringing oak to life under Jeanette's tuition.
Please note that unless otherwise chosen we will be making a small children's swing. This is NOT a carving course and if you would like any carvings on your swing this will be done by our team in advance of your course. There is an option to make our regular medium size swing instead, but please note there is an additional cost and also it is slightly harder to complete the work with larger materials. We will of course assist you to make sure you complete everything so you can take home a swing you are proud of at the end of the course.
The teaching takes place at our farm, just outside Canterbury.
All tools and materials are provided, and you will go home with an engraved doorstop which you have made. Do not worry if you don't have any woodworking experience. We will guide you through every step on the way.
Light refreshments are available throughout the course.
Transport back and forth to the train station is available with prior notice.
Our courses are now part of our charity The Quercus Conservation Trust. All proceeds go to teaching children, veterans and other people in society who particularly could benefit from learning a skill, but may not be able to afford one of our courses. The materials, tools and teaching are donated by The Oak & Rope Company.
Take home not just a beautifully crafted swing, but the pride of having made it yourself, and the memories of a day spent in the inspiring environment of The Oak & Rope Company.
Dates available in February and March - more dates to be agreed for the rest of the year based on demand and preferences.
The Joy of making is something we want to share with as many people as possible.
