It is the strangest thing. You plant one little whip*, thinking that it will take ages to grow, and then suddenly one day you look at it and see that it has grown into a proper tree!

How the world will look for our children’s children depends on what we do today. This is true in so many ways. Planting a tree is the most predictable impact you can make. Plant one for an occasion, like a birthday or anniversary or simply because you have the time. We have planted a few during lockdown, and hope that one day we will be telling our grandchildren about these exceptional times whilst sitting under one of these!
For some of the trees we have planted over the years we have made tree stakes engraved with the name, date and if relevant, the occasion. This means that when we start to forget these details, they will be there – maybe even after we are gone…
Plant a tree before Spring arrives. It gives it the best chance to get fully established and they require minimum maintenance. Plant your favourite tree, with no concern about how long it will take to grow, because as we know THE TIME WILL PASS ANYWAY…
Be sure to also register your tree on the The Queens Green Canopy this year in connection with HRH The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
